It has been an arduous task given the history of such a building, Located on Richmond st Dublin 2.
Over 200years old, complete with vaulted cellars under the street above , a common theme in the Victorian building situated on Richmond Street.
We were tasked with bringing the building to the modern age.
The renovation included sealing the basement cellars which are plagued with water ingress and damp, while also introducing ventilation and an overhaul of the plumbing system. A new flat roof and a polybicarbonate roof for the beer garden. Once the building was brought up to code we could then continue with the fitout. Some of the aspects that the client wanted in the fitout were extremely challenging given the compact nature of the building. We were tasked with providing three separate spaces that could be used for three different functions. From a Karaoke/Cocktail bar upstairs, a private club downstairs to a Hookah bar outside in the beer garden.
Some of the greatest challenges around the beer garden (formerly a mechanics workshop) was to integrate the two waterfalls. One was built into the seating while another was part of the media wall. This offered many challenges, given the position of the media wall and the stairs below.
We also commissioned some artists to create a mural on the side of the building in keeping with the theme of the local area and incorporating some tags, which are synonymous with the area. The mural is opposite a famous DONT BE AFRAID sign on a building, which is always a favourite with tourists. We hope our mural will garnish the same attention.
